Ivey Admissions Essays
Many prospective 2010 applicants may have already noticed new essay questions on the Ivey application – a sign (for us) of a new admissions cycle. We updated the questions earlier this month (but continue to accept applications from candidates wishing to submit 2009 essays they had already started) and I’m looking forward to reading responses to these new questions over the next year! Here’s a peak at the questions (all accessible in our application):
1. What career do you plan to pursue upon completing the MBA and why? How will the Ivey Business School help you achieve these goals? (250 words)
2. Describe why you believe you will be successful in the Ivey case study environment. (250 words)
3. If you could choose anyone (alive or deceased) to teach a course at Ivey, who would you choose and why? (250 words)
Remember the importance of essay questions with the MBA admissions process! Essays are your first opportunity to showcase what makes you unique – your passions, talents, interests, beyond your paper qualifications and profile. Be sure to take the time to highlight these traits, characteristics and accomplishments. There is no ‘right’ answer to our essay questions – spend some time thinking about why the question is relevant to the admissions committee, and how your profile and experience relates. Good luck, and have fun with the process!
Does the third essay have to be about somebody real or is a fictional character allowed as well?
Hi Anonymous,
You are welcome to discuss anyone you choose – real or fictional. Hope this helps.

Can anyone tell me tell wat to cover in second essay i.e. to be successful in case study enviornment
Hi Khosa,
With this question, we really want you to be reflective about what you will offer in the classroom in terms of class contribution. The case study method of learning is very dynamic, with everyone in the class using their backgrounds and experience to contribute a different perspective to the case. If you haven’t already been to a Class Visit or First Class on the Road event, you may want to consider attending one to give you an idea of what the Ivey case-method of learning is all about! Hope this helps.
hi niki,
please i’d like you to guide me through my application process and essay writing.
regards
